The abrupt suspension of Ant Group’s IPO may reflect Chinese authorities’ displeasure over a recent speech by the fintech conglomerate’s controlling shareholder, Jack Ma, who was critical of financial regulations that he believes show insufficient understanding and support for fintech innovation.
